Getting Into Things

I woke up on the earlier side of this morning, and I think it has to do with the fact that I’m so darn excited about the prospect of really starting to get into things on my blog. I know it sounds a little dorky, but I couldn’t fall asleep last night since I couldn’t stop thinking about ideas for my blog and such!

For breakfast, I had peanut-butter and bananas — a combo that I regard as infallible — on Landsberg Five Grain Bread which my parents and I bought at Fairway. For those of you from the tri-state area who haven’t gone to a Fairway yet… put it on your to-do list immediately! It’s a food lovers heaven — filled with a myriad of hard-to-find, exotic, and healthy items. But, getting back to the bread, I prefer this one in particular to regular wheat or grain bread because of its thicker and richer consistency — I almost feel as if I’m actually tasting each grain, mmm.

I’m heading down to my beach club soon, which is about a thirty-minute drive away in Atlantic Beach, NY. It’s a gorgeous day, and I’m definitely craving a change of scenery for which I can do my LSAT homework in. Since my class started at the end of June, I’ve been cooped up inside for hours everyday doing practice problems at my desk. I find that when I’m at college, I typically change up my spot in the library on the regular since I am no stranger to feeling “bored” by my surroundings. It seems that a new location — whether it be on the next floor up, or in a whole other building — really helps me regain my focus and motivation on whatever work I am tackling. So, taking this into consideration, it’s no surprise that I’m itching to take my LSAT book down to the ocean. Here’s to hoping that I don’t get distracted by all the beauty of the beach and half-naked boys strolling around!

I threw together this quick salad to chow down before I leave. I cleaned some spinach lettuce and mixed in a can of light tuna fish. After, I drizzled in two tablespoons of balsamic vinegar and a handful of sunflower seeds.

On the days I go to my beach club, I typically do not hit the gym. Since I workout indoors the majority of the year, I relish at any opportunity to get some exercise outdoors — preferably ocean-side! I usually do a 60-minute power walk along the shore when I’m there, followed by one of my few strength training routines. I used to enjoy running on the beach, but two summers ago I really hurt my knee doing so — and it took me a few weeks to recover. Last summer, after learning about what went wrong with my knee, I took a few precautions and made some changes before deciding to give running on the beach a second chance. Well, maybe you can already guess by the fact that I’m going on a power-walk today, but let me tell you the second time around wasn’t much better. My knee got all screwy again, and I was left with lots of pain and an inability to workout properly for a few weeks. So, nowadays, I’d rather save my running for hard surfaces and save my knees in the long run!
