Reunited & It Felt So Good

17 Jul

Hello again! I love how excited I am to post right now after taking my little one day hiatus. Yesterday turned out to be super super fun, and I’m most certain Laura more than enjoyed her 21st birthday celebrations! We all met up around 4pm at Hotel Verite — where Laura booked us an awesome family suite (!) — for some much needed catching up and girl talk time. Since we are so used to living with each other and seeing each other every day during the school year it is no surprise that we had plenty to catch up on seeing as we haven’t all been together in about one month.

After lots of gabbing and time spent getting ready for our night out, we headed over to to dinner at around 7pm. We agreed on going to Republic, which is an interesting sort of “up-scale noodle house” located in Union Square. None of us had ever gone here before, but we decided that it was a welcome change to our tried-and-true sushi dinners. The atmosphere was really unique — I felt like I was at a fancy cafeteria since we were seated at picnic style tables. I had one of their rice dishes, simply called “chicken and mushrooms” which consisted of “broken rice, shiitake and woodear mushrooms, Asian basil, and bean paste.” I thoroughly enjoyed my dish, but, the only problem was that it arrived luke warm… and I love my food hot, hot, hot! Luckily, the deliciousness of my berry-lime mojito more than made up for it.

Following dinner we went over to The 13th Step, a bar which is definitely geared toward us college-aged folk — so naturally, I had a blast! But more importantly, the birthday-girl — who is to my left in the picture — got to have a wonderful evening with her best friends! Oh, and I guess I should mention the 2 slices of pizza I devoured for a late night snack — but I’m pretty sure all the dancing in high heels I did negated it πŸ˜‰

Okay, so now I’m dying to discuss today’s Women’s World Cup game!!!! I am so very sad that the USA lost to Japan after they had put up one heck of a game. They played extraordinarily well, but, in the end it seemed to be their failure to actually get the ball in the goal — despite many, many attempts — which killed them. I couldn’t help but be transported back to 1999 when the game started going into overtime… and then penalty kicks! Only difference was that this time they weren’t playing China, and this time USA didn’t get the gold. Sad face. I’ve always been a huge soccer fan, especially a women’s soccer fan, since I grew up playing and loving this very sport. I joined my first travel soccer team when I was 7-years-old and continued playing through my sophomore year in high-school when I stopped once I began rowing. Soccer will always have a special place in my heart!

I’m pretty exhausted now, so I’m going to enjoy this bowl of raspberry sorbet and finish up some LSAT problems. I cannot wait to get my booty back in the gym tomorrow, it’s been two days too long!

Were you part of a sports team as a child? And, the obvious question is… did you catch the World Cup finals today? Thoughts!!?

Sounds like such a fun time! I can’t wait for the Healthy Living Summit to have a chance to get away for some girl time. Girl time is SO important. πŸ˜‰

And I hate when food comes out lukewarm too. My dinner on Sat night did as well and it totally bummed me out.

Dancing in heels makes the pizza SO worth it! πŸ™‚ I would have done it too!
I was a part of a lot of sports teams as a child and in highschool but the sister was always better so I didn’t enjoy it as much as I could have. It kept me active though! ….Now I’m even more active than I was in high school and I LOVE it!

I’ve never been a huge sports-follower, but during the NBA finals I did get very into basketball because my boyfriend would watch it all the time!
I wasn’t part of a sports team during my growing-up years, but I was very much into theater πŸ˜€

It’s hard not to get sucked into all the World Cup action! I was on the edge of my seat all game, and I was really sad when we didn’t win, but I was happy that after everything Japan has been through lately, they got this victory. Plus it was a very clean game. I hate when teams play dirty!
